HISTORY
Shailer Park SHS opened in 1980, servicing the suburbs of Shailer Park, Daisy Hill, Cornubia, Carbrook, Slacks Creek and Loganholme. No cultural group pre-dominates and the school is inclusive of enrolments from aspirant families across the socio-economic, multicultural and geographic spectrum of Logan City including Beenleigh, Windaroo and Central Logan.
The school is proud of its traditions and successes of past students with Alumni in the fields of Industry, Commerce, Arts, Science, Defence Force, Public Service, Sports and Trades strongly represented.
"Achieve with Dignity" remains our motto.
OUR FUTURE
School leadership has a futures focus and on-going commitments to 'renew, re-invent and re-brand' the school to deliver quality curriculum, teaching and learning that has achievement and student outcomes as the driving purpose to meet the demands of a 21st century world.
Our 2012 enrolment is currently 716 students and remains above demographic trend. We are continuing the re-invention of our school culture by pursuing high expectations and high standards that deliver results. Further opportunities are being sought to extend our curriculum and learning opportunities beyond the physical boundaries of the school in 2012/13/
Exceptional rate of improvement in our school's pursuit of excellence is being experienced and student outcomes at or above aspirational benchmarks. Literacy & Numeracy continues to improve with Numeracy at State and National benchmarks. School Wide Positive Behaviour Support has been adopted with three core principles ever present in and out of classrooms

- Responsibility
- Safe
Students who exemplify these quality personal behaviours are regularly acknowledged in celebrations each term.
Communications, partnership with and constructive participation of parents is valued and sought.
Our curriculum and teaching includes
- Year 8 Gifted & Talented - Accelerated Learning Program through One-to-One Laptop and project-based curriculum. This program will extend each year until 2015 where identified students can progress ahead of their peers into and beyond the Senior years
- Arts Excellence - Award winning Instrumental Music and Dance feature in our comprehensive Arts program while Visual Arts students regularly have their works feature in community exhibits
- Sports Specialist Program - regular finalists and winners in Futsal and Senior Recreation Studies now engaged in earning recognised Coaching qualifications in partnerships through Queensland Department of Sport & Recreation
- School-wide leadership and development program to build responsibility, resilience and prepare our young people with excellent decision-making and social skills

PRIORITIES FOR 2012
Having completed a very successful teaching & learning audit in 2011 that returned High ratings for an Explicit Improvement Agenda, A Culture that Promotes Learning, and Analysis and discussion of Data and Medium ratings in all other domains meeting expected benchmarks, we are well on our way to making Shailer Park State High School the premier State High School in Logan. Our audit results place us in the top 5 State High Schools in the South-East Region.
Our school is about to undertake a Quadrennial School Review where the school community contributes to mapping our progress and setting our compass for the school's next four years.
Our recent experience and progress has helped us identify 5 "Drivers" for our school's performance that has student achievement at the centre. These drivers are:

OUR TEACHERS
Two-thirds of our teaching team are Experienced Senior Teachers and teaching staff are inspired professionals. Teaching and Learning and improving the core business of our school is a professional priority and practice. Personalised learning is being embraced by our teachers to achieve best outcomes for each student in their charge. Teacher professionalism, adopting the essential knowledge of and about our students and acquiring new skills in a continuous cycle of professional improvement denotes out approach to teaching. Our thinking is "+30" into the future and suited to young people as students who are encouraged to:
